Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Apera AI Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

We are an innovative, Vancouver-based startup at the forefront of robotics, AI, and machine vision technologies. Backed by VC funding and we've been recognized with the 2025 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Leadership Award, the AAM Supplier Excellence Innovation Award, and the 2024 BC Tech "Company of the Year – Growth", we are on a mission to redefine the future of AI-driven robotic vision systems. Apera AI helps manufacturers make their factories more flexible and productive. Robots enhanced with Apera's software have 4D Vision – the ability to see and handle objects with human-like capability. Challenging applications such as bin picking, sorting, packaging, and assembly are now open to fast, precise, and reliable automation. Apera is led by an experienced team from high-growth companies focused on robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing.

Let's End Robot Blindness.

Robots can do amazing things - if they can see. That's where you come in.

At Apera AI, our breakthrough 4D Vision systems turn robots into intelligent, adaptable workers. But that transformation doesn't happen without people - especially those who build the secure, scalable foundations that allow us to grow with trust.

We're hiring an IT Manager to scale Apera's internal IT program. If you love automation, airtight controls, and building audit-ready systems that make onboarding effortless while keeping enterprise customers confident - this is your stage.

This is a builder-first role - not a help desk, not policy-only. You'll own provisioning, device management, compliance, and real-time monitoring for a global AI company operating across three continents.

What You'll Actually Do

  • SOC 2 & TISAX Readiness: Map controls using Vanta, close gaps fast, and ship a clean audit-ready system. Align Information Security, Access Control, Incident Response, and Data Classification policies to industry standards.
  • Automate RBAC: Build zero-touch onboarding/offboarding across M365, Intune, or Jamf using Graph/SCIM APIs.
  • Own Identity & Access: Enforce MFA, Conditional Access, and SSO across all key systems. Implement least-privilege RBAC for SharePoint, Bamboo, QuickBooks, and engineering tools.
  • Secure Cloud & Office Networks: Validate segmentation, harden VPN and network boundaries, and document evidence of firmware and configuration compliance.
  • Build NOC-Like Visibility: Deploy a centralized SIEM solution ingesting M365, Defender, MDM, VPN, and network data for real-time monitoring and incident response.
  • Prepare and Drill: Publish and operationalize incident response and backup procedures; run quarterly tabletop and recovery drills with measurable RTO/RPO compliance.
  • Security Integration: Prototype AI-based anomaly detection, alert summarization, and compliance reporting to automate evidence generation and event triage.

Why This Is a Career Move (Not Just a Job)

At Apera, IT isn't a checkbox - it's how we scale.

  • Be the founding architect of the infrastructure and security systems that will power a high-growth AI company for years to come.
  • Replace manual processes with intelligent scripts, CI-style compliance pipelines, and signal-driven monitoring.
  • Your work unlocks enterprise deals with the world's most demanding manufacturers.
  • Start as the founding IC. Build the processes, systems, and future IT/Security team as we scale globally.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years in IT for SaaS/Tech organizations with direct SOC 2 Type 2 experience (readiness audit remediation).
  • Deep experience with Microsoft 365 / Azure AD administration.
  • Proven automation skills (PowerShell, Graph API, SCIM) for provisioning and deprovisioning.
  • Strong command of MDM (Intune, Jamf) and endpoint hardening.
  • Track record of publishing and operationalizing security policy and leading tabletop incident response exercises is a plus.
  • Linux familiarity and cross-platform management experience required.
  • Bonus points for Vanta/Drata experience or TISAX audit participation.

Why Apera

  • Every employee is an owner - equity for all.
  • A culture of curiosity: we experiment, learn fast, and share openly.
  • A well-funded, high-growth roadmap at the frontier of AI + robotics.
  • Trusted by global manufacturers - your work directly enables enterprise adoption.
  • Salary range: $ CAD - $ CAD, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Competitive compensation with comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
