Range: $35.53-$50.99 per hour

Classification: 6-month Contract Full-Time

Position: Unionized

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Manager, Child and Family Wellbeing the Jordan's Principle Navigator will coordinate and deliver outreach strategies, identify community members, work internally with fellow staff, liaise with member nation designated teams/individuals, and intake Jordan's Principle community members.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Completing and submitting group requests and individual applications, and monitoring applications.

2. Work in collaboration with the service teams to identify "unmet needs" and work in

collaboration with required team members to lead the completion of Jordan's Principle

applications, respond to documentation requirements, status of approvals and complete

appeals

3. Work in collaboration with the service teams and external service providers and First Nations to secure supporting documentation for applications including support letters required by parties.

4. Work in collaboration with families served to empower advocacy and assist in navigating the Jordan's Principle application process.

5. Liaise and work effectively with the communities served, service providers, collateral

agencies and organizations and elders.

6. Work in collaboration with finance lead in coordinating direct vendor to Jordan's Principle billing processes and invoicing and reimbursement of expenditures assumed by Native Child and Family Services of Toronto.

7. Familiarize self with all Department of Indigenous Services Canada documentation

related to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and Jordan's Principle

8. Preparing and submitting monthly activity reports, developing and submitting a detailed yearly work plan, with goals, objectives and measurable indicators of success.

9. Supporting a child and family- centered approach to coordinating and connecting services to appropriate Jordan's Principle funding.

10. Creating support letters, gathering support letters, invoices, and community member consent for individual and group requests.

11. Participate in internal or external committees as required or requested.

12. Facilitate community outreach to advocate, educate, and support children, youth, and families.

13. Completing administrative functions and reports, and adhering to NCFST policies, procedures and relevant practices.

14. Other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements
  • College Diploma or degree in a related field – Social Service Worker, Children/Youth Worker, Developmental Services Worker, Child Development Practitioner
  • Two (2) years' comparable service delivery experience working with Aboriginal children, families, organizations, and communities
  • Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Pass a Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.
  • Knowledge of NCFST programs and services, as well as knowledge available and accessible of regional services.
  • Respect for, sensitivity towards as well as knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Metis and Inuit cultures.
