Job Overview

As Head Trainer, you're not just training clients — you're setting the tone for our entire personal training team. You'll deliver exceptional training sessions, help develop junior trainers, and support our overall fitness programming with passion and professionalism.

Head Trainer Expectations

  • Leadership: Serve as a role model and mentor for other personal trainers
  • Team Development: Support onboarding, guidance, and development of new trainers
  • Scheduling: Assist with scheduling Personal Training sessions and helping balance trainer workloads
  • Standards: Ensure quality and consistency in all training services delivered
  • Reporting: Track personal and team performance
  • Collaboration: Work with management to develop and implement fitness programs
  • Culture Building: Promote a team-first, client-focused atmosphere
  • Client Management: Maintain a high standard of customer service across all client interactions
  • Problem-Solving: Handle escalated client issues or concerns when needed

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform fitness consultations and develop personalized programs
  • Maintain a client base and achieve weekly training session targets
  • Support clients in achieving long-term health and fitness goals
  • Assist members with proper exercise techniques and equipment use
  • Promote other gym services and programs to members
  • Contribute to club cleanliness and professionalism
  • Handle member concerns in a timely, solution-focused manner

Qualifications

  • Certified Personal Trainer through a recognized organization (e.g., NASM, CSEP, ACE, CanFitPro, etc.)
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Personal Trainer (Head Trainer or supervisory experience is a strong asset)
  • Post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field preferred
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certified (or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire)

Work Conditions

  • Physically able to demonstrate all exercises and assist clients
  • Able to work variable hours to meet client scheduling needs
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Fast-paced, client-focused environment
