We're Hiring
We're now accepting applications for a People and Culture Specialist to join our downtown team and provide agency-wide support for People and Culture initiatives.
Under the supervision of the People and Culture Manager, the successful applicants will assist with The People and Culture processes and practices, with a strong emphasis on recruitment and selection, onboarding, training coordination and other work- force development projects.
Hours / Schedule:
Full-Time, Permanent
Based on 40-hours per week
Responsibilities:
As a People and Culture Specialist, your key responsibilities include:
- Supporting full-cycle recruitment processes, including job postings, applicant screening, and shortlisting.
- Participating in interviews and collaborate with hiring managers on hiring decisions.
- Providing guidance to candidates regarding employment requirements, terms, and conditions.
- Assisting with onboarding activities, including tracking progress and facilitating new employee integration.
- Communicating selection outcomes to applicants.
- Monitoring and track staff training to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Managing onboarding documentation, including creating and maintaining personnel e-files and conducting orientations.
- Assisting in managing our HRIS system.
- Coordinating and tracking training programs and maintain accurate training records.
- Contribute to workforce development initiatives and organizational projects.
- Actively participate as a member of at least one committee.
Qualifications:
- 1 – 2 years pervious working experience as a Human Resource professional, in a similar recruitment-based role.
- Working knowledge of applicable legislation, policies and issues impacting agency / employee relations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Educational requirements:
- A Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration.
- Working towards your CPHR Designation
To be successful in your role, you'll also need:
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills.
- Be detail-oriented, organized and efficient.
- Be skilled at managing multiple concurrent projects, assignments and tasks requested from multiple sources.
- Have the ability to function independently, and frequently under pressure.
- Demonstrate a high level of high level of computer literacy.
- Proficiency in technology and Microsoft Office, including excel.
- Familiarity with HR policies, employment standards, and workplace safety regulations.
Other Requirements
Given the nature of our work, please note that all shortlisted candidates:
- Need a valid BC Driver's License, regional insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle.
- Must undergo a screening process, including a criminal record search.
Wage / Benefits:
$31.25-$33.00 per hour based on experience and education.
Upon successful completion of a trial period, this position is eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions); as well as accrued vacation and sick time at 5.8% - above BC Employment Standards
