The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia's (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC. This position will be primarily responsible for preparing sandwiches for the outlet and support with guest facing duties.Duties and Responsibilities Primary responsibility in preparation of Blue Chip's sandwiches, including but not limited to breakfast and lunch sandwich, wraps and other baked products.Follow the standard recipe and quality control of the food that are being served via portioning of ingredients for different itemsLead the sandwich station by working with the Supervisors and delegating to Customer Service Representatives as requiredProvide excellent customer service before, during, and after serving.Maintain an average serve time of 5 minutes during rush hours.Work closely and cooperatively with the entire food and beverage teamProvide training to staff at the sandwich station as requiredMaintain cleanliness and organization of the back area by wiping down, sweeping, and removing trash.Demonstrate a good understanding of shelf life by checking fridges, labels, dates and rotating productMaintain a timely manner of delivery of foodChecking the condiment stand outside the store for customers and replenishing as neededOther duties as required by Supervisor, Assistant Manager and Blue Chip ManagerQualifications and ExperiencePrevious sandwich making experience in a quick service or restaurant settingFood Safe certificate is required.Ability to take direction and work well in a teamAbility to work in a fast paced, multitasking environment with little supervisionAbility to lift up to 25 kgs, bend, turn, kneel etc. requiredGood oral and written English communication skillsStrong interpersonal skillsGood time management skillsAbility to project voice in a friendly manner to call out ordersAble to work under pressureTO APPLY Please submit a resume and cover letter by clicking the "Apply Now" button below.Application deadline: Open until filled.
