Baker at Canadian Adventure Camp

Amazing opportunity for a passionate and driven Baker at Canadian Adventure Camp. Located on the beautiful Lake Temagami, Ontario, this live on-site summer position is suited to a Baker with experience in preparing baked goods from scratch for up to 200 people. Our Baker will work closely with our Executive Chef and will be responsible for coordinating the preparation and production of all baked goods.

About CAC

Canadian Adventure Camp is a full-service children's summer camp located on beautiful 160-acre Adventure Island in Temagami, Ontario We feature a full program of 35 great camp activities and are the summer camp home to 150 children and youth, aged 7 through 17 years. As an acclaimed summer camp in Ontario for nearly 50 years, we pride ourselves on providing outstanding experiences to campers from across the world. With our family-style meal times providing the foundations for our culture and atmosphere, our kitchen staff play a vital role in the CAC community.

Who are we looking for?

  • Experience as a Baker working in a high volume, fast-paced kitchen (experience working in a camp kitchen preferred)
  • Ability to manage time effectively to ensure baked goods are prepared and served in line with the camp dining schedule
  • Ensure strict compliance with all Health, Safety & Sanitation expectations, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS regulations and CAC policies & expectations
  • Ability to adapt to changes in workplace circumstances and/or environment
  • Baking and Pastry Arts education or equivalent experience preferable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English
  • Food Handlers Certification
  • Willingness to relocate and live remotely for the duration of employment

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and be responsible for the handling, preparation, production, and timely service of baked goods from scratch.
  • Produce high quality baked goods, including both design and taste.
  • Ensure food is prepared as close to consumption needs of the camp as possible.
  • Assist with menu planning, inventory, and management of supplies.
  • Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards.
  • Offer suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen's performance.
  • Adhere to, and reinforce all health & safety and sanitation standards.
  • Monitor and maintains kitchen equipment.
