Job Description
Under the direction of the Front of House Management Team, we are looking for a full-time Host to create a positive guest experience that begins with a proper greeting. Our hosts are responsible for maintaining an efficient and organized restaurant through managing guest flow, maximizing seating capacity and communicating with all employees.
What you will be doing:
- effectively managing reservations and walk-ins to maximize seating capacity;
- communicating with servers, bartenders and managers to maintain proper guest flow throughout the restaurant;
- escorting guests to their table, engage them in conversation and seat them accordingly;
- possessing a working knowledge of the restaurant trade area (location, surroundings, nearby attractions, directions, etc.);
- ensuring that the front entrance, host stand and surrounding areas are fully stocked and free from clutter and debris;
- knowing all table numbers and maintain awareness of which servers are in each section;
- maintaining the cleanliness of assigned areas by completing checks regularly throughout shift;
- following all food safety standards and systems;
- other similar duties as assigned or required.
The person we are looking for has:
- full-time availability
- previous experience in a customer service position
- high attention to detail
- a Degree/ Diploma in Hospitality or in pursuit is an asset
- ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
- organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- strong oral and written communication skills
- ability to maintain a level of professional urgency and momentum
- ability to stand for an extended period of time (up to 8+ hours)
