Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to animals. Your responsibilities will include assisting with examinations, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for both pets and staff. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about animal care and are looking to grow their skills in a veterinary setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by holding animals and providing necessary instruments.
  • Prepare animals for surgery, including administering pre-operative medications and monitoring vital signs.
  • Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal examinations.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and update patient files as needed.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the clinic by sanitizing examination rooms, surgical areas, and equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' health and care instructions.
  • Assist in the management of inventory, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels.
  • Support the team in educating pet owners about preventive care, nutrition, and wellness.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a veterinary assistant is required.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Compassionate attitude towards animals with a strong desire to provide excellent care.
