Transdev Canada is hiring an Operations Manager for our Victoria location.

As the Operations Manager reporting to the General Manager, you'll lead safe, reliable, customer-focused service delivery while hitting contractual and financial targets.

Your role

  • Own daily operations: Oversee dispatch, call centre, scheduling, road supervision, administration, and service recovery to keep routes on time and within standard.
  • Lead people & culture: Coach and mentor supervisors/managers; set clear goals, run regular huddles, recognize performance, and drive a collaborative, safety-first culture.
  • Champion safety & compliance: Responsible for the safety management system, inspections, and incident reviews; ensure adherence to company policies and all municipal/provincial/federal regulations.
  • Deliver the contract: Liaise with BC Transit to meet commitments and achieve KPI targets; manage service adjustments and communications.
  • Run the business: Build and manage budgets/forecasts; monitor KPIs (OTP, road calls, preventable incidents, customer feedback, overtime, cost/vehicle-hour) and implement action plans.
  • Manage assets & supply: Oversee information systems, parts procurement, and inventory control; coordinate with Maintenance to maximize fleet availability and PM compliance.
  • Strengthen the customer experience: Improve retention and satisfaction through clear communication, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop people: Define training requirements and ensure ongoing skill development for all site personnel.
  • Report with rigor: Meet client, corporate, and contractual reporting requirements accurately and on time.
  • Support growth: Provide technical sales support and assist in developing local leads where applicable.
  • Pitch in where needed: Assist with any related operational requirements on site to ensure service continuity. This role also supports the Cowichan Regional Transit System.

Your profile

  • You have a valid driver's license.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Proven experience in transportation operations management, preferably in the public transit or mobility services industry.
  • Experience in supervisory capacity of unionized employees will be consider an asset.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance in the transportation sector.
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system's staff and operational departments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in transportation management software and systems.

Your location :

  • This is a full-time, on-site position located in Victoria, BC. with expectations to travel to the Cowichan Valley Transit Site.
  • Work environment will be a combination of both indoors and outdoors.
  • Requires flexibility, final schedule to be determined based on operational needs.
