Job Summary:

The North America Cross Car Line organization is seeking a hands-on, solutions-oriented
Project Quality Specialist
to join the Top Hat, Platform, and Modules team. The specialist will focus on standardizing manufacturing quality processes and resolving vehicle quality issues. This role requires a proactive problem solver with broad knowledge of automotive engineering, manufacturing, and quality systems. The candidate must be a confident, high-energy leader with strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, demonstrating integrity and the ability to influence without direct authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform root cause analysis of quality issues using advanced problem-solving tools (e.g., Kepner-Tregoe, Shainin Red X, DOE).
  • Recommend and implement cost-effective, permanent corrective actions.
  • Analyze internal and external quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Manage engineering changes with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution.
  • Conduct product evaluation tests to validate process or product changes before implementation.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for engineering quality and product-related incidents.
  • Ensure delivery of third-party quality metrics and provide creative solutions to improve processes.
  • Develop and execute standardization initiatives across manufacturing processes.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment.
  • Support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership.
  • Establish internal and external partnerships and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Champion the Voice of the Customer and contribute to team success by clarifying expectations and removing roadblocks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 10 years in Powertrain Manufacturing or Engineering experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in Powertrain Quality experience.
  • Knowledge of engines, driveline components, FCA Quality, and Supplier Operations.
  • Training in Reactive Black Belt and Green Belt, with completed projects.
  • Strong structured problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for long periods in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Black Belt or Green Belt certification.
  • Experience launching engine programs.
  • Manufacturing, design release, or supplier quality experience.
  • Experience in lean/flat organizations and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong skills in data analysis and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to lead without direct authority and build partnerships internally and externally.
  • Experience with ISO/TS16949 and APQP processes for engine manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on, and capable of working independently.

  • Onsite at Windsor Assembly Plant 100%.
  • Travel: Auburn Hills, MI – 0-20%.
  • Driving a Stellantis vehicle is not required.
