Currently we are in need of a dedicated Maintenance Technician 2 to join the team in Hudson District in Victoria, BC. The ideal candidate is a highly organized individual who is an effective communicator and a creative problem solver that has previous experience as a Maintenance Technician 2.

Role & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician 2 is responsible for maintaining Townline's Hudson District in Downtown Victoria. The successful candidate will have a multitude of technical skills in maintenance work and the ability to work under pressure while delivering an exceptional customer service experience. This role will be from Tuesday to Saturday.

The primary duties of the Maintenance Technician 2 may include but are not limited to:

  • Painting of residential units upon turnover, including patching, priming, painting of walls and ceilings
  • Various other painting related tasks throughout the properties, including painting of hallways, lobbies and any other areas as needed.
  • Cleaning and general maintenance of the Hudson District buildings and grounds;
  • Conducting walk throughs and preventative maintenance on all equipment, buildings and grounds;
  • Conducting daily inspections of all mechanical and electrical equipment;
  • Completing daily documentation of all incident reports, downtime detail reports, work orders, material requisitions and maintenance work requests;
  • Creating and managing maintenance schedules and maintenance task lists;
  • Ordering materials/supplies in a timely manner;
  • Ensuring safe work practices and procedures are being followed onsite at all times;
  • Identifying areas for improvement and recommend cost effective measures;
  • Performing minor plumbing repairs such as unplugging drains, replacing toilet flush valves and identifying major leakage. Contact plumbers as required.
  • Performing minor finishing repairs such as caulking, sanding, painting and replacing bathroom and kitchen cabinets. Contact contractors are required.
  • Utilizing electrical knowledge to assess the complexity and severity of electrical issues and properly report them. Contact electricians as required.
  • Assisting the Resident Manager in ensuring turn-over suites are ready for new tenants;
  • Arranging suite cleaning or helping to clean if necessary;
  • Ensuring deficiency repairs and upgrades are completed in suite;
  • Assisting Customer Care team with key turnovers;
  • Perform other Customer Care and Warranty duties as needed.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Painter, or Maintenance Technician in Residential or Commercial Real Estate Assets is preferred;
  • Previous field technician or electrical/mechanical repair experience considered an asset;
  • Results-oriented with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and time lines;
  • Be committed to the highest ethical standards and take pride in Townline's tradition of excellent customer service to our homeowners, consultants, trades, suppliers, working partners and staff;
  • Effective written and oral communications skills;
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with the Property Manager, Maintenance Lead and other team members;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including labourers, technical, professional, and upper management;
  • Knowledge of all governing legislation such as the Residential Tenancies Act; Building code, Fire Code and Occupational Health and Safety;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is an asset;
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance tasks independently;
  • Ability to recommend corrective actions and implement repairs effectively;
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
