Our client is seeking
Senior Structural Design Supervisor
responsible for leading a team of designers to produce high-quality 3D structural layouts and drawings for complex industrial projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules, design standards, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Must Have Skills
- 20+ years of work-related experience in structural design or 22 years with combined education and experience (if non-degreed)
- Experience in mining and metals
- Strong experience managing progress, assigning work, and overseeing structural design teams
- Proficiency in bulk material take-offs, drawing reviews, and inter-discipline coordination
- Knowledge of structural design standards, codes, and commercial material availability
- Intermediate skills in spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, and email tools
Nice to Have Skills
- 3–5 years' experience as a lead designer on heavy industrial projects (mining and metals preferred)
- 5–10 years' experience with S3D modeling; SmartSketch experience is an asset
- Experience with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ProStructures
- Strong understanding of Canadian structural codes and standards
- Demonstrated structural design and problem-solving expertise
- Advanced organizational and time management skills
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Engineer in managing structural design scope and activities
- Lead, assign, and guide design team members to meet schedule and quality expectations
- Conduct 3D modeling and oversee drawing production for moderate to complex scopes
- Check and review designer output and vendor documentation for compliance
- Perform and analyze bulk material take-offs and tabulate results
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry codes, and departmental standards
- Resolve design discrepancies across disciplines and maintain open team collaboration
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Lead Engineer
