Family Resource Centre Community Liaison

The Family Resource Centre Community Liaison will be a point of contact for families with children 0-18, agencies and other stakeholders. The Community Liaison will do outreach work by visiting stakeholders in our catchment area and initiating, engaging, and maintaining those connections so we can offer the best services and supports to families in the Calgary West catchment. They will promote services and supports offered by the Calgary West Family Resource Network and the Child and Family Centre, as well as connect network partners with clients and opportunities to collaborate and learn from each other. This position will require a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends to meet with community partners and participate in community events. The Community Liaison will collect demographic information for reporting purposes as required. They will also support the Access Coordinators as required, and support on site so that families can quickly connect with and access services with minimal barriers. The Community Liaison is part of the Family Resource Centre team. They will engage with communities in our designated Family Resource Network catchment area, facilitate special events, inter agency meetings, set up and tear down and general upkeep of our Calgary West Hub.
HOURS, SALARY & LOCATION: The Community Liaison will work a non-standard 36 hour work week. The ability to work evenings and weekends is required.
The Salary for this role is $53,000 – $55,000/year. This position will be based out of our Calgary Child and Family Centre at 1804 Home Road NW.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma/Degree in nonprofit management, public administration, marketing or communications
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with vulnerable families.
- Experience working with infants, young children, youth and their parents.
- Knowledgeable in healthy child development.
- Knowledgeable about community resources.
- Experience helping families experiencing stressful situations.
- Valid driver's license and use of personal vehicle.
- Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR level C
- Current Police Security and Child Intervention Record checks with satisfactory results
- Brain Story Certification Course (online training)
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
- Experience using Efforts to Outcomes or similar client databases.
Responsibilities include:
Client Support and Engagement
- General knowledge of parenting and child development best practices and intervention strategies.
- Understand and identify gaps in service and programming.
- Engage in advocacy and liaising with internal programs and other community partners and resources to address those gaps.
- Use formal and informal methods to gather information on the needs in the community
- Lead the full ongoing cycle of program support from needs assessment to outreach, planning and collaboration, program promotion, partner agency relationship management and program evaluation.
- Find opportunities to host information booths at community fairs and events and run these booths. Set up, take down, coordinate volunteer or additional staff support, coordinate the distribution of supplies and CCS merchandise (ex. Brand materials, CCS banners etc.) This includes representing the agency at events that may take place on evenings or weekends.
- Initiate potential partnerships through networking
- Identify potential collaboration opportunities between potential program partners and FRC.
- Work alongside partner agencies on prospective program planning and determine if/how to proceed with the partnership
- Create promotional strategies and materials as well as contracts that support partnerships. Promote partner agencies.
- Manage events on CCS website, uploading information to events calendar.
- Manage room bookings for program space
Partner Relationship Management and Program Support
- Be part of a team at the Family Resource Centre providing ongoing programs and services.
- Create and inclusive and welcoming environment for all clients and professionals who access the Children's Cottage Society Child and Family Centre. Provide agency tours and orientation to partner agencies as needed.
- Work on site at the physical location of the Family Resource Centre.
- Engage and build relationships with, and between, families, individuals, Children's Services staff, communities, schools, and other service providers
- Ensure partner agency program staff and volunteers are supported while using FRC space (ensuring coffee stations are stocked, rooms are being cleaned etc.) and rules and procedures are being followed.
- Curate professional development topics for Children's Cottage Society staff as well as partner agencies for continuous improvement and collaboration. Responsible for planning, hosting, and follow up of these opportunities as part of our Learn and Elevate Gatherings.
- Comfortable with unexpected changes to programming and able to provide creative solutions when liaising with partner agencies, staff and volunteers.
- Meet with supervisor on a regular basis for reflective supervision
- Attend team meetings and trainings as required.
- Support a presence on the Family Resource Centre via social media and work with our Children's Cottage Society Marketing and Communications Specialist to ensure that events and contacts are up to date on social media.
- Maintain communication and relationship with volunteers and coordinate volunteer requests, and reporting to CCS Volunteer Manager.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate electronic client records
- Document all client calls and follow-up contacts.
- Assist with collection of outcomes data
- Assist with completion of a nominal role and other month end documentation at the end of each month
- Adhere to program accreditation and provincial guidelines.
- Track volunteer hours and reports monthly to the Volunteer coordinator.
- Other duties as required by the Family Resource Centre Supervisor, Director of Community Programs or CEO.
