About the role

We're looking for a Senior GIS Technician with strong Python programming skills to join our growing team of geospatial innovators This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data, technology, and infrastructure—someone who not only works with maps but builds intelligent systems that bring spatial data to life.

What you'll do

  • Manage, analyze, and maintain complex GIS datasets and spatial databases across multiple projects and platforms.
  • Develop and automate geospatial workflows using Python and associated libraries (e.g., ArcPy, GeoPandas, Shapely, Fiona, Rasterio).
  • Design, test, and deploy custom GIS tools, dashboards, and web maps to support internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support integration of GIS with enterprise systems and APIs, ensuring seamless data exchange and synchronization.
  • Conduct advanced spatial analysis, quality control, and geoprocessing tasks to produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and technical guidance to junior GIS staff and cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with R&D, IT, and project managers to enhance automation, scalability, and performance in GIS processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of professional GIS experience using software such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or equivalent platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python programming, including automation of geoprocessing workflows and data pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL Server, or similar) and API development/integration.
  • Strong understanding of spatial analysis techniques, cartographic design, and data visualization principles.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with web GIS platforms (ArcGIS Online, Leaflet, Mapbox, or similar).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based GIS environments or automation tools such as FME, AWS, or Azure.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Exposure to AI/ML applications in GIS or remote sensing data analysis.
