JOB OVERVIEW

LN Land Development Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Accounting Specialist to join our fast-paced, project-driven organization. Reporting to both the Finance Manager and CFO, this role is responsible for full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable, with additional involvement in general accounting functions across multiple active projects.

The ideal candidate brings 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience , preferably within construction, engineering, or other project-based environments. Strong ERP knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and exceptional accuracy and organizational abilities are essential. Experience supervising accounting administrators or coordinating team workflows is considered a strong asset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

  • Manage full-cycle AP, including detailed GL and project coding, approval verification, and PO matching.
  • Process vendor payments (EFT, wire, cheque) according to company and vendor terms.
  • Track and release vendor holdbacks based on project milestones and completion.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain vendor and subcontractor compliance documentation (WCB clearances, insurance, credit applications).
  • Prepare AP-related reports, including aging summaries and outstanding commitments.
  • Oversee and reconcile company credit cards.

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE

  • Work closely with project managers to prepare and issue contract-aligned invoices.
  • Manage customer holdbacks, statutory declarations, and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor AR aging and perform timely follow-ups on overdue accounts.
  • Record deposits and reconcile the AR subledger to the general ledger.
  • Provide AR reporting and contribute to cash flow forecasting.
  • Lead and manage collections activities.

GENERAL ACCOUNTING

  • Prepare monthly journal entries, including depreciation, prepaids, accruals, and interest.
  • Complete weekly and month-end bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and analyze variances.
  • Prepare departmental and project spending reports, including budget-to-actual comparisons.
  • Investigate and resolve payment and billing issues from internal teams or external partners.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This position plays a key role in supporting LN's financial operations. The Accounting Specialist will help ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all accounting processes, while supporting project teams and leadership with detailed reporting and data analysis. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to maintaining clean, accurate financial records in a growing organization.
