Sheet Metalist

Job Summary:

Corner Brook Fabrication & Steel, a leader in precision metal fabrication, is seeking a reliable and skilled Sheet Metalist to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment used to fabricate and form sheet metal components, including siding panels and other custom profiles. The ideal candidate will have experience in metal forming and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key responsibilities and duties:

• Operate siding and bending machines, including press brakes and roll formers, to shape sheet metal according to specifications
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders to determine machine settings and production requirements
• Perform machine setups, including selecting tooling, adjusting dies, and calibrating bending angles
• Inspect finished products for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and conformance to job specifications
• Monitor machine performance and production output, making adjustments as needed to optimize efficiency
• Conduct routine maintenance and assist with minor machine repairs as needed
• Ensure adherence to safety procedures, wearing appropriate PPE and maintaining a safe work environment
• Maintain accurate production records and report material usage, downtime, and issues to supervisors

Required skills and qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machine operation or metal fabrication is a plus
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating bending or forming machines in a metal fabrication setting
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of various metals (steel, aluminum, etc.) and their forming characteristics
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment
• Excellent attention to detail, quality, and safety

Working Conditions:

• Fast-paced fabrication shop with exposure to noise, metal dust, and sharp materials
• Use of PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection required
• May require overtime during peak production periods
