What do we need from you?
The Maintenance
Helper supports the Maintenance Coordinator with day-to-day facility upkeep and
repair tasks across all Kepler Academy locations. This role assists with basic
maintenance duties in the areas of
preventive maintenance, general construction, repairs, electrical, plumbing,
carpentry and painting tasks as required to ensure clean and safe centres.
This is a part-time position, working approximately 4 hours per day.
What will you do?
Performmaintenance and repairs in the areas of: Basic plumbing duties including swapping
fixtures, snaking clogs, and fixing leaksCarpenter work including installing trims
or moldings and replacing/installing locksetsElectrical tasks such as replacing bulbs
and swapping fixturesAssembling furniture and mounting
furniturePainting and basic drywall work and repairBasic upkeep of centres outdoor play
spacesPerform maintenance for seasonal, annual,
semi-annual requirements according to maintenance schedules and activitiesOperate a variety of standard power tools
and equipmentEnsure all maintenance/cleaning requests, enquiries
and concerns are responded to in a prompt and courteous mannerArrange for annual fire equipment service
and ensure all safety devices (smoke alarms, door closures) are in good working
conditionCoordinate with third party services
including managing contractor warranty tasks and appliance warrantiesCoordinate completion of work maintenance
and/or equipment repairs as needed, with contractors, in a timely and
professional manner; follow up on service requests to ensure proper completionAdhere to all legislated health, safety,
and environment requirements to minimize risk and hazardsFollow safe working practices and make
appropriate use of related safety equipment as requiredMaintain property and maintenance records
and maintenance activity reports/logs
Required Qualifications to Work at Kepler
Academy:
Driver's Licence and reliable transportationStrong general knowledge and experience in
areas of maintenance and repair including trades skillsAble to perform work inside and outside in
all seasons Strong communication and customer service
skills, collaborative and approachableAbility to prioritize tasks and work with
minimal supervision while paying close attention to detailFlexible working schedule to be available
for emergency after hours call in. Knowledge of potential safety hazards and
relevant safety proceduresPhysically fit; able to bend, lift, kneel,
crouch, climb, and crawl, etc. Vulnerable
Sector Police Information Check issued within the past 6 months
