Description
Our client is seeking a skilled accountant (CPA) to oversee and manage the accounting and financial position of our multi-location company spanning across BC and Quebec. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing an accounting team, cost accounting, and good exposure to enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (particularly SysPro). In addition to the accounting requirements, this role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to coordinate and manage accounting operations effectively across diverse geographical locations.
The VP of Finance reports directly to the President/Chief Executive Officer of Wellons. The successful candidate will also handle strengthening or expanding on existing systems, particularly those that influence our ERP system, SysPro.
Responsibilities:
Prepare / Design:
- Cash flow forecasts or projections based on company performance and current state of major contracts in the organization
- Budget considerations for departmental managers
- Controls and procedure to develop our Quebec team working within the ERP
- New policy as it relates to financial operations of the business
- Training and seminars on further strengthening ERP knowledge for your team
- Aid accounting team with preparing components of the financial statements
Review:
- Financial statements and reconciliations prepared by accounting staff
- Weekly invoicing for our customers, including major contracts
- Trends in our sales and cost data – assess opportunities for further profitability
- Payroll register for anomalies and consistency in application of company policy
- ERP issues raised during systems integration / troubleshooting / training seminars
- Effectiveness and efficiency of our systems and softwares, recommend action for improvement
- Budget vs. actuals – for both company financial performance, and project-to-project performance at the time of project closure
- Contracts and Purchase Orders relevant to a sales contract or major project
- Review, analyze and negotiate terms of payment in conjunction with our purchasing department and supply chain
- Controls and permissions for operators within the ERP system
- Requirements from Engineering and PM team as it relates to updates in the ERP system

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Must Haves:
• 5+ Years of experience in Accounting
• ERP System experience (med) - multi system environment
• Strong written and verbal Communication
• Strong MS Excel skills (Pivots, VLOOKUPS, work through sheets)
Nice to Have:
• Syspro ERP knowledge
• Understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and it's effect on Accounting, Purchasing and Sales - actively implementing MRP system. A lot of experience with Monika.
ADP and SAP Concur
• Knowledge of purchasing systems and supply chain management
• Experience in a manufacturing or construction setting
• ADP experience for Payroll software
• % of completion of accounting and it's effects on Revenue Recognition
Personality Traits:
• Ability to interact with multiple stakeholder.
• Strong communication skills
