Overview:

We are seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as Disability Support Workers. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing essential care and support to individuals experiencing developmental disabilities. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we support.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals with daily living tasks as well as accessing their community and connecting with peers
  • Be a role model and help guide problem solving and conflict resolution
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Follow support plans and instructions provided by healthcare professionals and provide support at medical appointments
  • Monitor, report, and document progress towards goals and any changes
  • Assist in coordinating social gatherings and planned group activities

Skills:

  • Experience in human services, specifically disability support is preferred
  • Knowledge of medication administration, positive behaviour support, and person centered care is an asset
  • Knowledge of the local community is an asset
  • Willing to learn and grow in skills and knowledge

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED). Additional post-secondary education in a related field preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License and reliable vehicle is required.
  • Valid Standard / Intermediate First Aid Certificate is required
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Availability for shift work.
