Position Summary:
The Public Health Inspector is responsible for providing a comprehensive environmental health program in the community in accordance with the Ontario Public Health Standards and the Health Protection and Promotion Act. Using a variety of professional and technical skills, the Public Health Inspector protects individual and community wellness through health promotion, education, inspection and enforcement of provincial Acts and Regulations. The position will be based out of the Timmins Office but will require extensive travel within the Northeastern Public Health catchment area.
Qualifications :
· Current certification in Public Health Inspection from the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors of Canada (individuals who have recently sat for the Board of Certification Exam are encouraged to apply);
· Bachelor's degree in environmental health or equivalent;
· Public Health experience is an asset;
· Excellent oral and written communications skills;
· Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills;
· Thorough knowledge of all legislation and standards as they relate to environmental and public health;
· Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team;
· Fluency in both official languages is considered an asset;
· Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to meet program needs;
· Access to a vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license;
· Satisfactory criminal background check;
· Required to comply with Immunization policies including COVID-19 vaccination unless valid medical exemption is provided.

L'inspecteur ou l'inspectrice de la santé publique est responsable de la prestation, dans la communauté, d'un programme complet d'hygiène du milieu conformément aux Normes de santé publique de l'Ontario et à la Loi sur la protection et la promotion de la santé. Au moyen de diverses compétences professionnelles et techniques, il ou elle protège le bien-être individuel et communautaire grâce à la promotion de la santé, à l'éducation, à la réalisation d'inspections et à l'application des lois et règlements provinciaux. Le poste sera basé au bureau de Timmins, mais nécessitera de nombreux déplacements dans la zone de recrutement de la Santé publique du Nord-Est.
Titres et qualités:
· Certificat en règle d'inspecteur en santé publique de l'Institut canadien des inspecteurs en santé publique;
· Baccalauréat en santé environnementale ou l'équivalent;
· Avoir de l'expérience en santé publique est un atout;
· Avoir d'excellentes aptitudes à la communication orale et écrite;
· Fortes compétences interpersonnelles, organisationnelles et en résolution de problèmes;
· Connaissances approfondies de toutes les lois et normes se rapportant à la santé environnementale et publique;
· Capacité à travailler de façon autonome et en tant que membre d'une équipe multidisciplinaire;
· Capacité de communiquer dans les deux langues officielles sera considérée un atout;
· Accepter d'avoir un horaire souple et de voyager pour répondre aux besoins du programme;
· Accès à un véhicule et possession d'un permis de conduire valide;
· Vérification satisfaisante des antécédents criminels;
· Adhérer à toutes les pratiques en matière de prévention et de contrôle des infections, y compris la vaccination contre la COVID-19, à moins qu'une exemption médicale valide ne soit fournie.
