Role Objectives

The Data Centre Critical Facilities Technician (Building Operator) is responsible for the hands-on maintenance, monitoring, and operational support of the mission-critical infrastructure in a 24/7 data centre environment. This role is a full-time, rotational shift position providing 24x7x365 with the requirement to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the overall facility via the Building Automation System (BAS) and ensure all critical systems are operating within established parameters.
  • Respond immediately to all alarm conditions, taking appropriate corrective actions and escalating to senior management as per defined process.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on critical infrastructure, including electrical distribution, generators, UPS systems, and various cooling systems
  • Execute work safely and efficiently, strictly following MOPs and SOPs for all procedures.
  • Oversee all contractors, ensuring strict adherence to site security procedures and safety rules.
  • Perform daily physical rounds and inspections of the data centre and equipment, completing a detailed report of all issues observed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Candidate Requirements

  • Please note: A criminal record check will be required for successful candidates.
  • Experience (3+ years) in facilities maintenance and operations, preferably in a data centre, hospital, or other critical 24/7 environment
  • A high school diploma with completion of a technical training program or a recognized apprenticeship program in a maintenance trade.
  • Preference: Licensed Journeyman Electrician, Licensed/Certified Refrigeration and Air Conditioning System Mechanic, or Certified Building Operator (or equivalent)
  • Technical knowledge of: High/Low Voltage Electrical Distribution, various Building Cooling Systems, and Security/Fire Alarm/BAS systems

This role requires flexibility to work holidays and overtime as needed.

  • This is a rotation shift position providing 24x7x365 coverage days and nights.
  • The work schedule will be 12-hour shift on a 4 days on/4 days off rotation.
  • Rotation Schedule is posted for the entire calendar year.
