Research Coordinator – Mental Health

Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Research Services, the Research Coordinator will provide coordination and support to the Mental Health & Addictions (MHA) research team. Working collaboratively with Principal Investigators (PIs), research staff, and clinical teams, the incumbent will coordinate study activities, support data collection and management.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful research aimed at improving mental health and addictions care across Northern Ontario. This is a temporary (6 month), full-time, non-union, non-management position, with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities
Study Coordination and Implementation
- Coordinate day-to-day research activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines
- Support preparation and submission of applications for research ethics and institutional approvals
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including study protocols, case report forms, and tracking logs
- Assist with participant recruitment, screening, informed consent, and data collection)
- Liaise with clinical and research staff to facilitate timely data collection and ensure data completeness and accuracy
- Manage communications among study team members, collaborators, and external stakeholders
- Support the development of data collection tools and databases
- Prepare analytic outputs such as tables, charts, and reports
- Contribute to literature reviews and synthesis of research evidence
- Support preparation of reports, presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts for dissemination
- Contribute to internal and external presentations and educational sessions
- Assist in the development of templates, guidelines, and improved research processes within the MHA portfolio
- Participate in meetings, expert panels, and committees as required.
- Maintain compliance with HSNRI and HSN policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines (e.g., TCPS2).
- Engage in professional development to remain current in research coordination, data analysis, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in health sciences, psychology, epidemiology, public health, or related field required
- Master's degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, or related discipline preferred
- Experience in health research, clinical research coordination, or program evaluation preferred
- Experience with data collection, management, and analysis in health research settings preferred
- Experience working with people from vulnerable populations preferred
- Working knowledge of large administrative or clinical datasets and basic data analysis software (e.g., SAS, STATA, or R) preferred
Special Skills / Training
- Demonstrated understanding of research ethics
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Lived or living experience with mental health and addictions, or interest in the field, considered an asset
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Selection Process

Hours
- Typically a 37.5 hour work week. Schedule may vary to meet demands, may be required to work outside of regular working days/hours for research project related deadlines.
Salary
- $30.66 to $36.08 / hr
- Commensurate with experience.
