Our client is a Toronto-based, not-for-profit organization with a mission to improve the health and lives of people living with and at risk of HIV Ontario.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist for a part-time 6-month temporary contract. The successful candidate will bring demonstrable hands-on experience with Dayforce HCM, along with the ability to manage payroll for a mixed employee group that includes salaried staff, full-time, part-time, and unionized employees. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing, including pensions, benefits, and statutory requirements.
This position follows a hybrid work arrangement, with attendance in the office as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle, bi-weekly payroll for approximately 40+ employees, including salaried, part-time, full-time, and unionized staff.
- Utilize Dayforce HCM extensively for payroll input, audits, validation, corrections, and reporting.
- Ensure payroll compliance with Ontario employment legislation, collective agreements, CRA requirements, and internal policies.
- Administer all payroll-related elements including:
- Pension contributions
- Group benefits and related deductions
- Union dues and entitlements
- Vacation, sick time, and leave management
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare any necessary adjustments.
- Generate payroll reports and support month-end and year-end processes.
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Support internal audits, reporting requirements, and process improvements.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of progressive payroll experience, ideally in a non-profit, public sector, or unionized environment.
- Advanced proficiency with Dayforce HCM (required).
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment standards, CRA regulations, and payroll compliance.
- Experience processing payroll for a mixed workforce (salaried, part-time, full-time, unionized).
- Familiarity with pension and benefits administration.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- PCP certification (or equivalent) preferred.
