The Manitoba Youth Centre (MYC) is currently seeking to fill an multiple Education Assistant position to join their team.

• Must possess and maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check

Qualifications:

Essential:

• Completion of an Educational Assistant Diploma and significant experience working in a classroom setting.
• Experience working with at risk youth or youth with differential learning needs in a classroom setting.
• Instructional experience or training.
• Ability to follow and implement goals established by teachers and clinicians.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and exercise sound judgement and decision making.
• Strong organizational skills including the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and develop strong working relationships with colleagues and students.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.

Desired:

• Knowledge of Indigenous culture and justice issues

Duties:

Educational Assistants support students and assist teachers with teaching and non-instructional tasks. They assist in areas of personal care, teaching assigned exercises and curriculum, and behaviour management under the supervision of teachers and/or Educational Coordinator.
