About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced governance professional to support the effective operation of the Board Secretariat and lead the development and continuous improvement of the ABC's corporate governance framework.
Reporting to the Head of Board Secretariat & Corporate Governance, the role will play a key part in ensuring the organisation meets its statutory obligations under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act) and other relevant legislation.
The Corporate Governance Lead will work collaboratively with senior executives, the ABC Board, and Advisory Council members to strengthen governance processes, coordinate meetings and policy frameworks, and provide expert advice on compliance and corporate governance matters.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the ABC's corporate governance framework and supporting policies, registers, and instruments.
- Support the ABC Board Secretariat and Advisory Council, coordinating meetings, papers, briefings, and follow-up actions.
- Maintain the Board Policy Framework, ensuring alignment with legislation, governance standards, and organisational policy.
- Provide expert governance and compliance advice to senior leaders and the Board, monitoring legislative and best practice developments.
- Drive process improvement and collaboration across the ABC to strengthen governance capability and culture.

About You
- Admission as a Legal Practitioner in an Australian jurisdiction with at least 10 years' relevant experience.
- Proven expertise in corporate governance or company secretariat functions, ideally within a statutory organisation.
- Strong understanding of the PGPA Act, governance principles, and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and judgement when managing sensitive and confidential matters.
