Lead Data Scientist, AI and Technology Strategy, TEO

What is the opportunity?

As Lead Data Scientist, this role will collaborate closely with the Director, AI and Technology Strategy, TEO, to develop and implement TEO's AI and data strategy. The AI and Technology Strategy team holds primary accountability for driving the adoption and value creation of AI across TEO, in conjunction with RBC's AI teams, including Borealis and Lumina.

By leveraging RBC's extensive data assets and AI ecosystems, you will work in tandem with business stakeholders, end-users, and technology partners to design and deploy AI-enabled data frameworks and reporting structures. Additionally, you will develop and test computer programs, models, and prototypes as part of proof-of-concept initiatives, focusing on enhancing operational efficiencies and elevating customer experiences.

What will you do?

  • Participate in the design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models and prototypes using enterprise data assets.

  • Collect, transform, and analyze complex data to extract insights, support model development, and enable predictive analytics.

  • Collaborate with IT partners to implement efficient solutions, reducing manual work and errors, and to align cloud infrastructure with AI strategy.

  • Develop and maintain scalable data platforms, including data lakes, pipelines, and APIs, to ensure accurate and reliable data feeds.

  • Create dashboards, reporting platforms, and self-service reporting capabilities to monitor model performance, operational impact, and efficiency gains.

  • Establish processes for continuous model improvement, including automated feedback loops and simulation environments to validate models and quantify business impact.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 3-5 years deep understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, frameworks and relevant programming or database languages like SQL, Python, SAS, or Java.

  • Master's degree in data engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldwork experience in software development or related fields.

  • Experience with data platforms, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), and APIs.

  • Hands-on experience in LLM, AI/ML model development, simulation, and deployment.

  • Proven ability to design scalable data pipelines and AI-ready infrastructures.

  • Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance.

  • Strong communication skills to translate technical solutions into business outcomes.

Nice to have

  • Experience working directly with client or business teams in banking operations industry

  • Experience with model lifecycle management, and design thinking

  • Prior exposure to RBC enterprise data platforms or financial services.

  • Experience of building or leading AI/data science teams.
