Position Summary

Are you looking for an exciting new career opportunity that comes with amazing opportunities for success and growth for your future? Morskate Manufacturing is actively recruiting a motivatedProductionQuality Control on our Night Shiftto join our dynamic team of professionals.

Reporting to the Production Manager/ QHSE Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that all fabricated products meet established quality standards before they leave the shop and yard. This includes interpreting drawings, inspecting welds and finishes, verifying material specifications, and assist in coordinating third-party inspections as required. You will also track the status of products through each stage of the job and support accurate documentation for final quality reports.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain excellent attendance record
  • Ensure all products are properly tagged & labelled daily in a timely manner
  • Ensure manufactured products meet a pre-determined quality standard
  • Search and review drawings electronically as needed for verification
  • Interpret part and fabrication drawings for quality checks
  • Accurately measure and verify material thickness
  • Visually inspect all finished products for quality and size of weld, tagging/marking, finish e.g. prime, paint, powder coat, galvanize, etc.
  • Scan finished product tags in order to organize and track finished product and status throughout fabrication
  • Work closely with QHSE Supervisor on quality control requirements and assist in generating final turnover documentation package
  • Report quality problems or concerns to management in a timely fashion

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, procedures and practices
  • Solid knowledge of structural steel fabrication process & quality of welds e.g. undercut, lack of fusion, porosity, cold lap and spatter
  • Must have good communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Possess problem solving skills & the ability to identify potential issues and actively participate in finding solutions
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs. and be on feet for long periods
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team (e.g. working with welders, drafters, project managers, etc.)
  • Ability to speak and understand English clearly

Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Active participation in company safety program
  • Follow safety protocol including wearing of required PPE and understanding and application of safety policies, procedures and practices
