Ciena is looking for a dynamic Lab Engineer who can expertly manage the intersection of lab operations and framework development. This role demands a robust networking background and an aptitude for implementing optical topologies based on requirements.

You will play a vital role in ensuring the quality of Ciena's best-in-class solutions, contributing to a culture of technical excellence and collaboration where we're constantly pushing the boundaries of optical networking.

How You Will Contribute:
 

- Implement and troubleshoot complex optical network topologies based on requirements outlined in Jira.

- Maintain and resolve issues with Ciena lab equipment using including network recovery techniques.

- Reconfigure Ciena optical systems using detailed schematics or project information provided.

- Collaborate with the lab operations team and framework development team to align lab activities with testing requirements.

- Investigate and resolve infrastructure issues involving ethernet connectivity, terminal server access, and lab equipment.

- Oversee installation of operating systems and software loads on Ciena equipment and Lab Framework Servers.

- Lead initiatives for optimizing R&D lab environments, focusing on operational excellence and technology adaptation.

The Must Haves:
 

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems/Technology.

- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.

- Minimum of 4 years working in R&D lab environments.

- Expertise in Ciena optical network products, routing, switching, and network recovery techniques.

- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with teams and resolve complex network issues.

- Proficiency in bug tracking with Jira and source code management tools like Git.

- Exceptional documentation and interpersonal communication skills.

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.

- Rapid adaptability to new technological concepts and their practical applications.

- Highly motivated, with a positive work attitude and a drive to learn and innovate.

Pay Range:

The salary range for this role in Ottawa is $90, 000 - $110, 200
 

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
