We are currently looking for a Manager, Regulatory Innovation & Planning to join our Corporate Regulatory Affairs Team in a Permanent position.

Reporting to the Director, Regulatory Planning & Compliance, you will play a key role in shaping regulatory strategies and guiding the development of filing content to align with corporate objectives. In this position, you'll lead the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, ensuring compliance with energy regulations and consistency with organizational goals. You will manage a diverse portfolio of projects relating to Grid Infrastructure and Customer Solutions, while collaborating closely with business units to draft, review, and deliver regulatory documents. The ideal candidate will provide strategic insights to project teams, ensure timely and accurate filings, oversee post application requirements, and champion innovative regulatory approaches that create value for both customers and the organization.

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • A Bachelor degree and a minimum of five (5) years' experience working in a business, accounting firm, legal, engineering or regulatory environment with management level or comparable responsibilities.
  • A broad understanding of regulated industries, regulated business practices and regulatory compliance issues. 
  • The ability to manage multiple, complex, long-term projects with flexibility to achieve outcomes within strict timeframes is vital to this position. 
  • Technical understanding of utility systems, particularly pricing and costing related to tariffs, would be considered an asset.
  • The ability to foster effective working relationships with colleagues and external contacts to achieve company priorities is critical.
  • A strong financial and commercial acumen, including the ability to review financial models is an asset.

  • You will demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex concepts to senior leaders and external audiences, as well as leadership objectives to project teams.
  • You will be expected to manage, develop, draft and review applications and reports to the Nova Scotia Utility Review Board. They are also expected to be knowledgeable of the subject matter, and able to distil the complex, technical nature of the issues into understandable themes to aid in the resolution of issues that may arise.
  • You have an ability to manage changing priorities while ensuring that project teams establish and understand project goals.
  • You have great attention to detail and the candidate will possess excellent communication and advanced writing skills.
  • You have the ability to effectively manage groups, and oversee cross-functional project teams, with an advanced knowledge of general business principles, including accounting, as well as advanced knowledge of regulatory process and environment.
