POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction & Projects Manager leads the planning, coordination, and execution of Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver's construction and home repair initiatives, including new builds, renovations, Critical Home Repairs, Youth Skills training projects, and the Deconstruction Program. The Manager ensures projects meet BC Building Code requirements, WorkSafeBC standards, and Habitat's quality and sustainability goals, while engaging volunteers, partner families, and community partners in safe, inclusive, and meaningful build experiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management and Planning
Oversee all construction activities including new builds, renovations, Critical Repairs, and Deconstruction projects.
Develop and manage construction schedules, budgets, procurement, and subcontracted trades.
Conduct site assessments for Critical Repairs and Deconstruction projects, defining scope, budgets, and safety requirements.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, inspectors, and suppliers.
Incorporate sustainability practices such as energy efficiency, low-carbon building systems, and waste diversion.
Corporate Engagement Days & Volunteer Engagement
Plan and deliver safe, organized, and meaningful Engagement Days for individuals, corporate groups, and community sponsors.
Provide training and supervision to volunteers of all skill levels on site.
Collaborate with Resource Development staff to ensure Engagement Days provide strong sponsor engagement and recognition opportunities.
Support partner families in fulfilling sweat equity requirements through active involvement on build sites.
Critical Repairs Programs
Lead planning and delivery of Critical Home Repairs addressing urgent safety, accessibility, and livability needs.
Work with Family Services staff to identify repair priorities in alignment with Habitat's homeowner support program.
Ensure all repairs meet safety, accessibility, and durability standards while maximizing cost efficiency.
Youth Skills Program
Partner with workforce development and youth training organizations to provide hands-on learning opportunities.
Train and mentor youth participants in basic carpentry, construction safety, and employability skills.
Provide meaningful supervision and feedback to ensure youth participants gain confidence and experience.
Deconstruction Program
Oversee and manage Habitat's Deconstruction Program, coordinating the careful dismantling of kitchens, cabinetry, and other building materials for resale in Habitat ReStores.
Ensure Deconstruction projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in partnership with homeowners, contractors, and donors.
Support waste diversion by maximizing salvageable materials and minimizing landfill contributions.
Team Leadership & Supervision
Supervise construction staff, subcontracted trades, and volunteers.
Train, coach, and evaluate staff and program participants.
Collaborate across departments to integrate construction activities with fundraising, family services, and volunteer engagement.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce strict adherence to WorkSafeBC safety standards and Habitat's construction safety policies.
Conduct orientations, toolbox talks, and regular site inspections.
Ensure quality control and compliance with BC Building Code and municipal permitting requirements.
Maintain accurate project documentation, permits, and safety records.
Qualifications
-5–7 years of experience in residential construction management, project supervision, or equivalent.
Knowledge of BC Building Code, WorkSafeBC regulations, and municipal permitting processes.
Experience with new builds, renovations, repairs, and/or deconstruction projects.
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire volunteers, youth trainees, and staff.
Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Experience with sustainable building practices and waste diversion strategies
Valid BC driver's license and ability to travel to multiple sites in Metro Vancouver.

Frequent physical activity including lifting, bending, and outdoor work in variable weather.
Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends for corporate engagement days, volunteer events, and community partnerships.
Compensation
-Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($75,000–$95,000).
