Director of HSEC
to lead our Health, Safety, Environment & Community programs across Canada. This is a senior leadership position focused on building a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and supporting sustainable growth.
You'll oversee a national HSEC team, guide contractor safety programs, and collaborate across departments to make sure our operations stay safe, compliant, and forward-thinking.
If you're passionate about turning safety from a checklist into a culture — and want to work where your leadership truly shapes the business — this might be the role for you.
Please note this position is available to be based out of our Guelph, Saskatoon, Sherwood Park, or Calgary offices.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and grow a national HSEC team
- Align HSEC initiatives with MEMS' business goals and future growth

- Lead investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions
- Drive proactive safety initiatives and training programs
- Promote a behavior-based safety culture at all levels

- Stay current on HSE legislation across Canada
- Manage audits, inspections, certifications (COR, etc.)
- Own regulatory relationships and due diligence (e.g., for M&A)
- Maintain contractor and corporate safety portals (ISN, ComplyWorks, Avetta)
Contractor Management
- Build and enforce a national contractor safety program
- Lead contractor pre-qualification, onboarding, and site audits
- Ensure jurisdiction-specific compliance is met on all projects
About You
- CRSP (or equivalent experience in HSE leadership)
- 10+ years in senior safety/environmental roles, with management experience
- Strong knowledge of Canadian HSE laws, standards, and regulatory frameworks
- Proven track record managing contractor safety programs
- Strategic thinker with strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience managing change, culture, and cross-functional teams
