About the Role

Global News Toronto is looking for a full time Control Room technician to join our Don Mills location. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Broadcast Operations. 

You will contribute by:

  • Assist in the operation of MOSART, the automated control room application.
  • Operation of Maestro and ORAD virtual set control.
  • Operation of Telemetrics robotic cameras in virtual and real environments.
  • Technical initialization and facilities checks of all robotic cameras, audio boards, studio lighting, teleprompter, closed captioning and other control room and studio equipment.
  • Quality control checks of all programming being played out from server.
  • Remote coordination of live events.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including late nights, early mornings and weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Skills and experience you will bring:

  • Minimum 3 years of network control room or related experience.
  • Degree or diploma in Broadcast Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Comprehensive knowledge around any or all of the following newsroom management systems including Mosart, ENPS, Open Media, Grass Valley, XPression and ORAD.
  • Strong technical knowledge around switchers, audio and lighting boards, robotic cameras, graphics systems.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative to improve workflows and production quality.
