Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to manage and maintain our organization's IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our systems, supporting both on-premises and cloud environments. This role requires a strong background in operating systems, virtualization, databases, and networking, with a focus on implementing best practices for system performance and security.

Duties

  • Manage and support cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Maintain virtualization environments including VMware and ESXi, performing upgrades, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
  • Administer databases including SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, NoSQL, and other data storage solutions.
  • Configure and support operating systems such as Windows and Linux across servers and workstations.
  • Manage DNS configurations, VPN setups, and network infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity.
  • Develop automation scripts using Bash, Shell Scripting, Python, or PowerShell to streamline operations.
  • Implement container orchestration solutions like Kubernetes to support scalable applications.
  • Utilize DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Docker for continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
  • Monitor system health using REST APIs and other tools; troubleshoot issues related to computer networking and system performance.
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMware ESXi.
  • Proficiency with database management systems like SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, NoSQL databases.
  • Extensive experience with operating systems including Windows Server and various Linux distributions.
  • Solid understanding of DNS management, VPN configuration, and network protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Kubernetes), DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins), scripting languages (Python, Bash), and REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript development is a plus for supporting web-based applications.
  • Knowledge of computer networking principles including TCP/IP, firewalls, load balancers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator are preferred. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Toronto, ON M5J 2S1
