The purpose of the Research Assistant position is to work as part of a clinical research team to support the Research Coordinator to oversee the operation and management of research projects.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

o Participate in the design and maintenance of databases, data collection forms, error checking methods and related programs for efficient collection, analysis, and reporting.

o Identify and recruit study participants including informed consent process, randomization and implementation of study protocol procedures.

o  Completion of participant assessments 

o Maintain screening logs/records.

o Completion of Case Report Forms (CRFs).

o Collection and transmission of source documents.

o Review of Quality Control Reports and resolution of queries.

o Serious adverse event reporting.

o Schedule follow up with study participants as per study protocol.

o Manage drug supply for study participants.

o Arrange consultations with physicians as necessary.

o Complete local Ethics Committee applications, renewals and study closeout applications.

o Maintenance of study binders and logs.

o Host monitoring visits.

o Participate in the education of front line health care staff re: study protocol and procedures.

o Attend site initiations, investigator meeting, etc.

o Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study. 
o Requires 2 years of relevant experience. 
o Basic anatomy & physiology knowledge.
o Medical terminology.
o Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
o Good verbal and written communication skills.
o Computer and administrative skills.
