POSITION TITLE: Grassroots ManagerREPORTS TO: Technical DirectorLOCATION: Guelph, ONPOSITION STATUS: Full-time, permanentHIRING RANGE: $50,000 - $55,000DEADLINE TO APPLY: Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025BACKGROUNDThe Guelph Soccer Club is the largest youth sport organization in Guelph, Ontario, proudly serving over 6,000 passionate soccer players annually. Established in 1966, the Club is a non-profit organization that offers indoor and outdoor soccer programs for youth and adults.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Grassroots Manager will assume a strategic role across grassroots programming whereby, assuming the responsibility for overseeing the holistic development and delivery of all programming within grassroots ages at Guelph Soccer. This includes supporting and mentoring coaches, ensuring alignment with the club's technical and player development framework, and maintaining consistent communication with players, parents, and staff.The Grassroots Manager will coordinate training schedules, monitor player progression, and foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes long-term development and retention while working alongside a group of coaches to execute program deliverables. Additionally, they will collaborate with the Technical Director, and other program leads, to implement best practices in coaching methodology, talent identification, and seasonal planning to ensure continuity across the club pathway.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPlayer and Coach DevelopmentProvide the Technical Director with a yearly Grassroots technical plan.Oversee the Under 8 – Under 13 Grassroots Development program by:> Designing training sessions> Implementing periodization models> Creating age and stage appropriate development objectives> Game model development per age considerationSupport grassroots festivals by performing coach evaluations, team evaluations, providing player feedback, and completing age group evaluations.Conduct meetings with grassroots lead coaches and team head coaches to monitor progress and offer support.Assist all Grassroots coaches with licensing and registration information, while ensuring that all coaches are properly certified/qualified or have actionable plans in place to obtain the required certifications for appropriate registrationWork with all Grassroots teams to ensure game day rosters are created appropriately and ensure players are placed into the correct/appropriate environmentHelp to enhance and deliver a player feedback/assessment program for the Grassroots programProduce an annual Grassroots Development and Methodology presentation for grassroots parents that outlines philosophies and development objectivesCreate a grassroots coaches recruitment plan outlining recruitment strategies, areas of needed growth, women in sport initiatives, and BIPOC initiativesOversee player identification within the Recreational programs and implement an identification strategy across grassroots recreational programming and specifically interacting among the Under 7 ages for pathway educationComplete grassroots coach evaluations for the winter development phase and provide an end of season assessment on grassroots coachesUtilize Guelph Soccer analytics tools to provide Under 11 - Under 13 groups with a comprehensive analytic package to provide feedback on quality of playProgram OversightOversee Guelph Soccer's Futsal Development Program by monitoring the curriculum to ensure it is age and stage appropriate, and ensure program sustainability assessment consisting of a staffing model, budgeting and post program evaluationOversee Guelph Soccer's Talented Player Pathway Program by:> Overseeing the invitation process> Session design/implementation> Creating a staffing model for program implementation> Managing the program budget> Developing the program objectives> Completing a program evaluation> Providing the players with a feedback model from the program> Completing a post program evaluation for further enhancementsDevelop all Grassroots Under 8 – Under 13 training field schedules in collaboration with the Competitive Operations Manager.Track key successes, growth moments, areas for future growth, coach development and overall interactions observed throughout the year in the Grassroots Development ProgramCreate a Grassroots report outlining retention rates, new players welcomed into the program, and perform an annual comparison for key metric analysisCreate and manage a grassroots development budget that covers coach certification expenses, and on-field equipmentFacilitate Grassroots Identification sessionsAdministrative ResponsibilitiesThe Grassroots Manager will be the first point of contact for all grassroots coaches, and when necessary, team managers and parentsOversee Grassroots player registration process, grassroots fast track completion process, coach certification process, coach certification tracking and team official/league registration in accordance with the timelines and processes prescribed by our governing bodyLiaise with the Southwest district office as neededQualificationsUniversity Degree or College Diploma in Sport Management, Recreation and Leisure or related educationMinimum of three (3) years experience with a youth soccer club or equivalentNational Children's License is preferredLeadership skills, mentoring ability and program developmentOrganization skills and the ability to effectively manage resourcesStrong verbal and written communication skillsProficient computer skillsAbility to work effectively with volunteer coaches, technical staff and office staffMust clear a criminal record check and vulnerable sector searchMust be willing to work non-traditional hours that will include some evenings and weekendsMust be eligible to work in CanadaGuelph Soccer is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity in the workplace.
