Role: The HSE Representative (Construction Safety Officer), promotes a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel on-site, providing health, safety, and environmental support to help ensure Peak meets industry standards. The HSE Representative supports Project Management & Superintendent(s) on-site throughout the construction phase and is responsible for the day-to-day implementation and maintenance of Peak's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) program.

Who You Are: You are an experienced and reliable National Construction Safety Officer or Construction Safety Officer with high standards for the safety and well-being of all site workers. You are passionate about safe work practices and use a positive, motivational approach to ensure compliance with safety procedures and accident prevention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor safety compliance of workers and sub-contractors.
  • Conduct site-specific health and safety orientations for all new site workers and visitors.
  • Facilitate and participate in site inspections and implementing corrective action.
  • Proactively identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Prepare site safety plans, and conduct hazard assessments, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents, and injuries are properly reported to all appropriate parties.
  • Review sub-contractor documentation for accuracy and provide feedback to personnel.
  • Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Administer first aid as necessary.
  • Assist with site safety-related carpentry duties (guardrails, handrails, floor openings cover), as necessary.
  • Updating management on all site safety observations.
  • Mentoring and coaching trade partners and construction crews on best safety practices, policies, and procedures in place.
  • Reviewing the emergency response plan, conducting annual drills, and project site first aid emergency response as required.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Certified Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or National Construction Safety Officer ticket
  • Occupational First Aid Level II (OFA 2) ticket with transport or First Aid Level III (OFA 3) ticket (valid)
  • Solid knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible construction industry experience in a safety-related role

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent organization, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) and basic Adobe
  • Good physical condition and stamina
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain detailed records
