Overview
Harster Greenhouses is seeking an organized and motivated Sales & Marketing Assistant to join the team. We are a producer of floral products that are sold across North America. In this role, you will support the sales team with day-to-day activities including processing customer orders, customer communication, and marketing initiatives.
As the successful candidate, you excel in a dynamic and multi-faceted workplace, demonstrating a strong ability to adapt and remain productive in an ever-changing environment. You will possess exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all aspects of your work. Additionally, you are comfortable with managing a blend of administrative and creative responsibilities, effectively balancing these tasks to support both the sales and marketing functions of the organization.
Responsibilities
Sales Support
- Provide daily assistance to the sales desk, including customer order entry and document preparation.
- Create product labels and UPCs; generate packing slips and shipping documentation.
- Process U.S. orders and complete required customs paperwork.
- Maintain and update a customer database that cross-references SKUs, item codes, product information, and applicable upgrades.
- Build and keep the sales department SharePoint site organized and up to date.
Marketing & Administrative Support
- Assist the sales director and business development manager with marketing and communication materials.
- Prepare crop shots and weekly plant availability updates.
- Help create generic flyers, sales presentations, and show materials.
- Gather hard goods inventory numbers.
- Contribute to the creation and organization of marketing and trade show content.
Qualifications
- College diploma in related field is preferred.
- Floriculture knowledge and direct experience working in greenhouse business environments is preferred.
- Previous experience in a sales support, marketing assistant, or administrative role (preferred).
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with databases, Excel/Sheets, and Microsoft Office 365 (especially SharePoint).
- Familiarity with basic design tools (e.g., Canva, PowerPoint, or Adobe Acrobat) considered an asset.
- Ability to travel, potentially to the U.S., for customer meetings, trade shows and other industry events.
- Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to shifting priorities in a collaborative team environment.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 13 kgs (30 lbs).
- Ability to either sit or stand at a workstation to complete administrative tasks.
- Fine motor skills required for typing and working with digital equipment.
- Ability to navigate uneven surfaces within the greenhouse and warehouse environments, including tolerating fluctuations in temperatures in winter and summer.
- Must have own transportation to access work site since it is not serviced by public transportation.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
