What is the opportunity?
The Solution Acceleration & Innovation (SA&I) team strives to position RBC as a Global Leader in Innovation with a focus on emerging opportunities and technologies. The team builds new products and capabilities, with a primary focus on emerging technologies, payments, security, data and privacy. We are a multi-disciplinary team with workspaces in Toronto, ON and Orlando, FL consisting of cutting-edge technology researchers and experts, strategists, product managers, project managers, security and payments experts, developers and designers. This allows us the ability to not only generate a product concept but create and launch products in market.
The Director, Operations & Enablement will play a critical role in enabling success of SA&I by leading core operations and supporting communication and strategy. This role focuses on driving operational excellence, improving efficiency, and ensuring team alignment, while also enabling innovation. This role will ensure strong operational discipline, compliance, and sound financial management across the team.
What will you do?
Direct and oversee and drive accountability for team performance metrics by creating and maintaining KPIs to measure productivity, outcomes, and business risk; provide executive-level reporting on progress and drive continuous improvements in how SA&I operates.
Provide Leadership to support HR and team operations (onboarding, role tracking, contractor oversight) to ensure seamless day-to-day functioning, workforce effectiveness, and compliance.
Lead operational process optimization initiatives to streamline day-to-day workstreams, introduce automation, and remove inefficiencies, positioning the team for growth.
Support and deliver the communication operations, including strengthening the communication portal, producing materials, and ensuring alignment across SA&I.
Ensure clear communication and adoption of operations updates and initiatives through presentations, briefings, and knowledge-sharing channels that keep teams aligned and informed.
Facilitate cross-functional operational collaboration by aligning stakeholders on objectives, execution plans, and delivery timelines.
Support strategic growth and innovation by contributing to ideation workshops, exploring new business models, and scanning for emerging trends and opportunities, while ensuring operational feasibility and risk management in partnership with subject-matter experts (AI, blockchain, payments, data privacy).
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
5+ years of leadership experience in in Operations, Business Management, Program Management, or Management Consulting with proven ability to manage teams and oversee multiple workstreams.
Strong operational leadership mindset with the ability to design, refine, and govern processes that improve effectiveness, measure productivity, and streamline execution.
Proven ability to lead complex operational programs, balancing multiple workstreams and priorities in a dynamic environment.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills (storyboarding, visual communication, influencing) with strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply operational framework, manage complexity, and connect operations to broader enterprise priorities.
Entrepreneurial and proactive leadership style - resourceful, accountable, and able to deliver outcomes with limited oversight while enabling team performance.
Nice to have:
5+ additional years progress experience in Operations, Business Management, Program Management, Management Consulting, Financial Services, Entrepreneurial environment, or other comparative experience.
Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, Economics, other related discipline; a post-graduate degree such as an MBA/EMBA, Master's in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a similar field is an asset.
Experience in financial services or other complex, highly regulated industries.
Experience leading enterprise-wide operational initiatives with measurable business impact.
