Pay: $19.00–$21.00/hour

Hours: 37.5 hours/week, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM (with some flexibility)

End Date: March 31, 2026

Initiatives for Just Communities (IJC) is a non-profit, charitable organization that operates four community justice programs: El'dad Ranch, Touchstone, Open Circle, and CoSA. These programs support people with intellectual disabilities, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and those who are currently, or have been previously, incarcerated. IJC is committed to restorative justice practices, which honour the community and foster a sense of belonging.

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk for a term position to support our financial operations. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, accurate, and comfortable working with accounting and payment systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter AP bills, AR invoices, and payments into accounting system.
  • Enter approved vendor payment details into payment system.
  • Assist in transitioning vendors from cheque payments to direct deposit by entering bank details.
  • Update budgets in QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Export data from QuickBooks Desktop and file copies, ensuring proper archiving of financial documents for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Organize and maintain physical and digital financial records.
  • Assist with photocopying, scanning, and other administrative tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop and/or CAFT is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Ability to manage confidential financial information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles is an asset.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or business administration is an asset.
  • Previous experience in data entry or accounting support preferred.

Conditions of Employment

  • Successful completion of MSDs certification and any other compulsory safety courses.
  • Satisfactory work references.
  • Adhere to all IJC policies and procedures.
