The Role

The Education Department is looking for a Full-Time Sessional faculty to teach in the academic year. This is a tenure track position. Instructional duties may include courses in the Early Learning and Child Care program.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in a related field and significant experience in early childhood development. Instruction and research at the post-secondary level is an asset. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

• Demonstrated success and professionalism in Early Childhood Education including teaching, child care, or a child development specialization, and an understanding of early childhood development and pedagogy.
• Experience in the Alberta Early Learning and Child Care system and knowledge of the northern Alberta context is an asset.
• Highly qualified faculty, who seek to continuously improve instruction and meet the need of learners.
• Candidates must be able to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.
• Knowledge of Northwestern Polytechnic courses and current educational technologies commonly found in classrooms (e.g., videoconferencing, D2L) are desired.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Willingness to work with the Teaching & Learning Centre.
• Student Focused.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
