SALARY RANGE: CUPE 339 PG 4 ($37.10) & PG 7 ($38.60)

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Casual

HOURS/DAYS OF WORK: Varying

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Transit Supervisor and/or the direction of the Lead Hand, the Transit Operator is responsible for providing transit services in Nelson and the surrounding area as per the Master Operating Agreement.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 or GED (General Equivalency Diploma)
  • Valid Class 2 BC Drivers' License with air brake endorsement
  • 1 year of recent related experience
  • WHMIS

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to interact with other employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Ability to organize work
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with related municipal policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with City of Nelson/municipal, and Worksafe BC safety procedures
