Our team is looking for a Director of Construction who will have the responsibility for overseeing the construction of our wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) energy projects in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and eventually throughout Canada.Job DescriptionThis is a results-oriented role that would suit a highly motivated individual with experience in the renewable energy industry. The successful candidate will work with SWEB Development's (SWEB) team members with expertise in renewable energy policy and incentives, real estate, GIS, legal, design, permitting, site preparation, engineering and finance. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to:Coordinate and oversee supplier and contractor performance during the construction of wind and solar generation assets and compare to contractual obligationsManage construction budgets and sign-off on construction related invoicesAssist team members in estimating construction costs based on preliminary civil and electrical designs of wind & solar energy projectsAssist in reviewing engineered civil and electrical drawings for projects in constructionRepresent SWEB as a technical expert with turbine manufacturers, engineering consultants, contractors, and permitting bodiesAttend construction management meetings and act as "Owners Representative" on construction sites over the course of the projectsProvide regular construction updates to senior management, lenders, consultants, etc.Track technological advancements and drive adoption of new materials and technologies, as applicableProvide expertise during the review and negotiation of major project agreements, including for turbine supply, turbine operation and construction servicesSupport the pre-construction team with equipment delivery requirements and environmental monitoring, environmental mitigation, etc.Lead tenders for EPC and construction servicesSupport the team based on know-how and experience in respect to design, equipment selection and changes as well as managing utility and contractor schedulesSupport the financing team and operations team with technical queriesSupporting the development of Battery Energy Storage Systems as requiredThe above job specifications do not imply that these requirements are exclusive standards for the position.
