The opportunity

Supply Nation has an exciting 12 month fixed-term opportunity for a full-time Corporate Affairs Manager to join its Sydney based team

The Corporate Affairs Manager is responsible for developing and implementing effective media strategies to enhance the organisation's public image, reputation, and engagement.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, Communications, Media and Events, the Corporate Affairs Manager will collaborate with various internal stakeholders to craft compelling messages, proactively engage with media outlets, handle incoming media enquiries and effectively manage crisis communication.

The Corporate Affairs Manager will stay up to date with industry trends, monitor media coverage, and leverage relationships with journalists to ensure accurate and positive representation in the media landscape.

More specifically, some key responsibilities include:

Provide authoritative, proactive and culturally safe strategic advice and counsel to the CEO and Leadership Team on all corporate affairs matters, particularly those impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, partners, and stakeholders.Develop and lead an overarching corporate affairs strategy that aligns with the organisation's business objectives and commitment to Indigenous self-determination and economic empowerment.Lead and develop a dedicated Media Manager, fostering a high-performing, values-aligned and culturally safe work environment.Monitor legislative and policy changes impacting the Indigenous business sector, providing proactive advice to leadership and leading advocacy efforts to shape positive policy outcomes.Represent Supply Nation professionally at government, industry, peak body and sector forums and events to strengthen influence and visibility.Prepare briefing packs, key messages and evidence-informed materials for Ministerial and government engagements, drawing on research and data insights. Lead the development and execution of corporate affairs, communications, and advocacy strategies that enhance Supply Nation reputation, visibility and influence.Lead the organisations reputation management approach, including proactive positioning, monitoring sentiment and identifying emerging risks.Develop and maintain crisis and issues management frameworks ensuring organisational readiness. Act as an escalation point for reputational or sensitive issues; collaborating with internal teams to craft messaging that preserves the organisation's reputation.

Skills And Experiences

What we need from you:

Demonstrated understanding of the Indigenous business sector, and previous experience working on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander issues/projects will be highly regarded. Experience in journalism, media relations, public affairs, government relations or strategic communications, preferably in a similar role or within the industry or government.  Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills, including with senior government and media professionals.Strong crisis and issues management capability, with the ability to remain calm, culturally sensitive and strategic under pressure. High-level organisational and prioritisation, managing complex and competing demands. Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relation, public policy, political science or a related field.Significant senior experience in corporate affairs, media, government relations, advocacy or public policy.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling narratives and adapt messages for diverse audiences. Demonstrated experience leading corporate affairs, advocacy or communications strategies in complex environments.

Further desirable skills and experience:

Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous societies, cultures and issues affecting Indigenous Australians in business. Understanding of the Indigenous business sector, and previous experience working on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander issues/projects will be highly regarded.Experience working within or with not-for-profit, Indigenous or mission-led organisations.
