Job Summary:

The Computer Science program at Ontario Tech aims to provide students
with experiential, active and knowledge-based learning experiences. The
successful applicant will be expected to support and contribute to the overall
development and delivery of hands-on learning experiences.  This includes but is not limited to,
maintaining undergraduate teaching equipment, supporting the development of lab
materials, day-to-day system administration of servers, and providing technical
and logistical support for running of lab sessions. The successful candidate
also provides support to the Faculty of Science and acts as back-up to the other
Computer Science Technician. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

Nature of Work:

This position reports to the Associate Dean
and works closely with faculty members, staff, TAs and students.

Key
Responsibilities:

●Ensure students, TAs and instructors can access the necessary computer servers and lab equipment
●Maintains lab equipment throughout its lifetime
●Communicates with stakeholders to determine replacement equipment
●Researches and recommends new equipment to enhance undergraduate CS program
●Liaises with ITS, OCIS, facilities, and/or Shared Services to ensure lab is in an optimal state
●Assists with development of new lab materials and ensures adequate lab resources are available
●Acts as back-up to the other Computer Science Technician

Required
Qualifications:
●Completion of a Formal Post-Secondary/College/University Program consisting of Four Academic Years. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.*

Required Experience:
●Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in Computer/Computing Science/Information Technology or related field
●Strong experience in system administration (Linux, macOS, and Windows)
●Experience initiating projects
●Experience with embedded hardware, digital media production experience, and web programming/design
●Experience in a similar faculty-based role is considered an asset
