Position: Maintenance Manager, Homewood Suites by Hilton

Reports to:General Manager

Location: Surrey, BC

PROPERTY SUMMARY:

Located in the heart of the Health and Technology district in Surrey, and conveniently situation close to Surrey Memorial Hospital, Homewood Suites by Hilton spans 132,000 sq ft. of floor area, occupying the top nine levels from floors 17 to 25 of the City Centre 4 building. This 189-room property boasts a tower rooftop amenity space with a bar, patio and BBQ area, firepit and backyard lawn areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the Engineering Team in the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules.
  • Communicate with Housekeeping to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities for guest rooms and public areas.
  • Develop systems and procedures to ensure the health and safety of guests and team members, as well as the proper conditions for plants, machinery, and property.
  • Communicate with the Building Manager about anything related to communications with governmental agencies to ensure full compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Prepare Capital, Repairs, and Maintenance budgets for the Engineering Department.
  • Conduct daily checks around the hotel.
  • Create and manage monthly meetings with the hotel's Health & Safety Committee
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment within the hotel.
  • Foster good relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain all hotel fixtures and fittings to ensure they are safe, and take action when any unsafe situations arise.
  • Develop, implement, and direct all emergency programs.
  • Develop, implement, and manage energy conservation programs for the property to minimize expenses.
  • Coordinate renovation bidding, define the cost and scope of projects, and oversee the general contractor and subcontractors to ensure quality work is performed cost-effectively.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Identify and introduce environmentally friendly systems and equipment.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Engineering Department and take corrective action, as required, to improve equipment inventory, quality audits, productivity, and other objectives.
  • Manage all team member-related activities, including recruitment, performance management, training, career planning, disciplinary matters, and team motivation.

It would be advantageous for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • First Aid certification.
  • Qualifications in the engineering field.
