Underground Miner (Long Hole Loader)

Alamos Gold's Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada's largest underground gold mines.  It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario.  The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos' foundation for growth for many years to come. Reporting to the Supervisor, Mine Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient completion of long hole loading.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Reading and interpreting blast layouts and using bulk and packaged explosives;
• Cleaning holes and preparing for blasts;
• Laying out detonators and boosters;
• Stemming of holes;
• Installation and grouting of cable bolts, ensuring proper columns on holes and tying in blasts using Nonel and Electronic Initiation systems; and
• Any other duties as directed by supervisor

Qualifications and Experience:

• 3-5 years underground experience;
• Accreditation in U/G common core modules and specialty modules;
• Strong safety focus;
• Self-motivated ability to work alone;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently;
• Preferred candidate will possess previous experience long hole loading.

Schedule: 5-5-4 rotating schedule
