Role Summary:
The Financial Controller to provide hands-on leadership and management of the Canadian accounting department. This is a highly visible role that requires working closely with the Global CFO and the Canadian Senior Leadership team.
Key Job Responsibilities:Provide strong financial reporting integrity and analytical review of financial results, ensuring proper maintenance of all general ledger accounts and financial transactionsPrepare monthly financial statements, for management review and for bank reporting, and coordinate annual auditAssist in the annual budgeting process; and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriateWork closely with operations and sales managers, provide financial support for commercial activities, and establish finance and administrative systemsMaintain and develop internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, capital costs, and expendituresOversee bi-weekly payroll, ensure correct accounting and payroll tax remittancesAssists and provides guidance on CRA compliance, included but not limited to, provincial and corporate taxes, installments, payroll source deductions and sales taxesAnalytical review and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts on a monthly basisEnsure accurate billing of customers is provided on a timely basisResponsible for cash, receivables and collections, and vendor paymentsOther duties as required by ManagementLeverage strengths of the current team members and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goalsCoach 2 direct report accounting team membersProvide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environmentLocation:

Requirements:Minimum of a BS/CPA and a minimum of 5 years of related experiencePersonal qualities of integrity, passion, teamwork, and unwavering commitment to the company's mission; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CFO, the responsibility for accountingSolid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and payrollCommitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordinglyKeen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reportingStrong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior managementAbility and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managersCapable of managing projects and time in order to meet crucial deadlinesAbility to work flexible and extended hours as required by the needs of the business
