Hours of Work: Days, evenings, nights, statutory Holidays and weekends

Hourly Rate: $ $26.877
Position Summary
The Utility Transport Aide is responsible for operating and maintaining the flusher disinfector cleaners; Arjo Tornado and Typhoon machines; equipment inventory and battery replacement, and performs a variety of activities, which supports nursing care and unit activities. These unit activities focus on the provision of supplies and hardware which include reprocess able items (bedpans, basins and urinals) and transporting of soiled medical devices to Sterile Processing Department (SPD).
Reporting Relationship
Utility Transport Aide will report directly to the Director of Projects & Biomedical Engineering and work closely with the Infection Prevention and Control Coordinators.
Responsibilities
Understand and comply with Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures.Seek clarification when unsure of a policy, a procedure or an assignmentSign in at the beginning of your shift, as well as, sign out at the end of the shift via computer (Meditech)Pick up Ascom phone and sign out.Test the disinfectorsOperate Flusher Disinfector Cleaner: Arjo Tornado and TyphoonTrack Arjo usage and disinfect Arjo machines on a weekly basisEnsure full completeness of inventory of hardware and specified equipment for each assigned areaRTLS equipment battery checks and replacementsStock Clean Equipment room with appropriate stock level of hardwareCo-ordinate departmental needs with SPD, including but not limited toPick Up delivery timesRe-ordering of HardwareStocking of pre-approved stock level of hardwarePick up soiled instrumentsDisposed of any cracked or damaged hardwareWork collaboratively and proactively with Environmental services and SPD personnel to ensure timely availability of medical/surgical suppliesWipe down disinfector each dayReport immediately all incomplete assignments, malfunctioning equipment or exceptional events to the dispatch call (50,000) center, IPAC department and Director of Projects & Biomedical EngineeringAll employees of HRH share a common responsibility to act in accordance with the commitment to safe and compassionate patient care and a safe and healthy work environment.Perform all other duties as assigned.At the RCC site, this role will also be responsible for patient portering and soiled carts transportGeneral Responsibilities:

Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (attend training as required)Knowledge and understanding of Reprocessing and Sterile Supply ProcessingMedical Device Reprocessing (MDR) or Sterile College certification requiredKnowledge of medical supplies and high level disinfection equipment requiredKnowledge of Infection Prevention and Control StandardsTwo years of recent related hospital medical/surgical supply experienceGrade 12 education or equivalentDemonstrated ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervisionDemonstrated ability to cope frequently and for long periods of time with physical demands such as walking, bending, pushing, and heavy lifting (ability to lift 25-30 pounds repeatedly)Ability to handle stressful situations in a fast paced environmentAbility to operate, with training, machinery, i.e. DisinfectorsAbility to function while wearing personal protective equipment-gowns, gloves, eyewear and masksEffective Customer Service skills required.Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.Why choose Humber River Health?
