About the Role
We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders in clients of varying ages. You'll collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other health professionals to develop treatment plans that improve quality of life and functional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's needs and goals.
- Provide evidence-based therapy to improve communication abilities and swallowing function.
- Educate and counsel clients, families, and caregivers on communication strategies and home exercises.
- Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and integration of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and progress reports in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in case conferences, professional development activities, and team meetings.
- Stay current with best practices and advancements in speech-language pathology.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
- Registration: Must be registered and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
- Experience: No clinical experience is required (experience in healthcare, rehabilitation, or community settings is an asset).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of developmental, acquired, and neurological communication disorders.
- Familiarity with swallowing assessments (VFSS, FEES) and treatment techniques is an asset.
- Working knowledge of healthcare documentation, privacy, and ethical standards in Ontario.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
Additional Assets (Preferred but Not Required)
- Experience with pediatric, adult, or geriatric populations.
- Certification in Hanen programs, PROMPT, or other specialized therapy methods.
- Bilingualism (English/French or another language) is an asset.
