Who we are looking For

-We are looking for a trained DBT therapist who is experienced in working with people with Complex Trauma and Emotion Regulation issues (BPD).

Who we are:

Emotion Wise Counselling was created out of a desire to provide high quality care to people who have been through more than their fair share of adversity in life. We are a group of therapists passionate about working with people with complex PTSD and Emotion Regulation issues using evidence based therapies, specifically EMDR and DBT. We are warm, empathetic , validating and attuned while also bringing our up front real life selves into the therapy room.

We keep clients at the centre of all we do, and are continually learning and self-reflecting on our own prejudices, blind spots, and privilege and are hoping to see people in the broader context of the systems and society we all live in together. Our therapists have diverse on the ground experience as well as therapeutic expertise and training.

​Required Qualifications:

  • Has obtained Master's degree in social work or Counselling Psychology
  • Familiar with the principles of DBT, trained in DBT and experienced in providing DBT therapy.
  • Experienced in providing trauma therapy and ideally trained in EMDR therapy or anther evidence-based Trauma Therapy (IFS, CPT, etc.)
  • Be a Registered Social Worker (RSW or RCSW) or Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or Registered Psychologist (R.Psych) (must already be registered)
  • Demonstrated clinical experience working with culturally diverse clients with complex trauma, substance use, and emotion regulation issues
  • Experience working with 2SLGBTQI+ clients
  • Registered with FNHA and/or CVAP, or eligibility to register
  • Be willing to provide both in-person and virtual services (this is NOT a virtual only position)
  • Must be available for minimum 10 client hours per week (including 5 hours of in-person counselling including one evening or weekend at our Vancouver location), ideally 15 hours
  • Willingness to attend peer group consultations

Additional Desired qualities:

  • Experience and interest in running DBT groups
  • Experience working with substance use
  • Experience working with youth and families and couples
  • Abilities to work evenings/weekends
  • Available for in-person office shifts on Saturday, Sundays or Fridays
